Almeria is a small residential town to the south of El Ejido favoured by the Spanish for their summer holidays. There are some 'British Pats' in residence but primarily this is a quiet Spanish town built around the marina. It is easily accessible off  the main E-15 coast road See How to get there

Located between the airports of Granada, Malaga and Almeria. It is approximately 2 hours to the Sierra Navada ski resorts. The roads are good, and the E-15 is mainly dual carriageway with 120 Km (70 mph) speed limits. Driving time from Calais is approx 21 driving hours using the main French and Spanish motorways.
